Here Comes The Sun

The sun is up!

After 9 days of continuous downpour, the sun decided to show up again today. Thank God! I love the rain but it gets really gloomy when it's all you see for days. You begin to long for the sky to clear up and for the sun to come out and warm the air outside so you can go out for walk, take in a breath of fresh air, and take pleasure in watching the beautiful trees and the changing colors of their leaves as the fall season makes a grand entrance.

It's a great day today! The sky is clear and the air is warmer (although it's still cold out there at 66 deg F, at least it's not 49 deg F). Outside, the colors of the trees are beginning to change. I see a lot of bright purple, yellow, orange, and red leaves all around. What a breathtaking view! And even though it's gotten really cold outside, it's still a great time to go out for a walk and feel the warmth of the sun against my face.

This will be my second fall season in Seattle. Last year, when I didn't have a car yet, I walked to work everyday so I was able to really enjoy and take in all the beauty that was all around me. This year, I already have a car so I don't really have to walk during these very cold months anymore. But I don't think I can resist the stunning sight that gives so much pleasure to the mind and the senses. Such beauty that only comes from nature needs to be savored, experienced, and lived!

When I saw that the sun was out this morning, I decided to leave my car at home and walk to work. It was a glorious 10-minute walk; a great way to start a great day!

With your words you make it so much more real than with what my eyes have seen, or failed to see for that matter, when I woke up and went to work this morning. I feel guilty that I rushed right into my day without pausing to appreciate the beauty of this new sunny day. I wish I could turn back the clock and go back to this morning and savor the moment. Good thing the weather forecast for the rest of this week until the weekend is sunny. I promise I won't miss it again. Too bad I can't walk to work like you do because my apartment is 15 miles away from work. - Amanda

Very true to the blog title, The Best Of What's Around. But I'm sensing something else...am I right or am I right? - R
